How to use it

  1. Choose a scenario card or make up a low-pressure example.
  2. Arrange cards for the situation, thought, feeling or body signal, action, and outcome.
  3. Move the cards to show another sequence that could also make sense.
  4. Add missing people, surroundings, or supports if they mattered.

Reflection prompts

  • Which link was easiest or hardest to notice?
  • Where could the sequence change, if you wanted it to?
  • What support might help at that point?

Facilitator guidance

Treat every sequence as a hypothesis, not the correct account. Invite the child to correct the order and include context rather than locating responsibility only within the child.

Adaptations & accessibility

  • Use only three cards: what happened, what I noticed, and what came next.
  • Act out the sequence with toys.
  • Allow the child to select icons without explaining them.

Review considerations
