How to use it

  1. Choose an unfinished comic or create your own situation.
  2. Add what the character may feel, need, or want others to understand.
  3. Draw more than one next step, including asking, trying, resting, repairing, leaving, or getting support.
  4. Choose no ending at all if the situation needs more information.

Reflection prompts

  • How can confidence and fear both be present?
  • Which choices depend on other people's support or behavior?
  • What would make the situation safer or fairer?

Facilitator guidance

Avoid defining confidence as compliance, independence, performance, or staying in an unsafe situation. Name environmental barriers and adults' responsibilities where relevant.

Adaptations & accessibility

  • Act out scenes with figures or role-play only with consent.
  • Use thought and feeling symbols instead of dialogue.
  • Offer an ending focused on support, accommodation, or changing the environment.
