Draw Your Feeling as a Creature
Use an imaginary creature as a flexible way to describe a feeling.
Clinician-created · facilitator review requiredFor clinician-facilitated use
This is a professional resource, not a child-facing online service. A licensed clinician or other qualified adult must determine suitability, explain and adapt the activity, and supervise its use. Do not direct a child to access this webpage independently or enter client information.
The full-resolution WebP includes print-safe margins and should be downloaded by an adult professional. Read the guidance below before using the page.
How to use it
- Imagine a feeling as a creature, shape, or other made-up form.
- Choose its size, color, sound, movement, needs, or habitat.
- Draw as much or as little as you want; the creature is only a metaphor.

Reflection prompts
- What would you like someone to notice about your creature?
- Does it change in different situations?
- What space or support might it want?

Facilitator guidance
Use for creative externalization without treating the creature as a symptom, diagnosis, or hidden meaning. Let the creator define every part of the metaphor.
Adaptations & accessibility
- Build with clay, collage, blocks, or selected picture parts.
- Create a weather pattern or abstract shape instead of a creature.
- Allow storytelling without drawing or sharing.
Professional-use review
