Personalized Calm-Down Plan
Make a personal plan for noticing early clues and choosing support.
Clinical review requiredFull-resolution WebP artwork with print-safe margins. Review the guidance below before use.
How to use it
- Choose a situation to plan for, or make a general plan.
- Add early clues, options that may help, people you can ask, and ways to return when ready.
- Cross out anything that does not fit and stop if planning feels uncomfortable.

Reflection prompts
- Which early clues are easiest to notice?
- Which choices are realistic in this setting?
- How would you like a support person to respond?

Facilitator guidance
Create the plan collaboratively when the person is settled. Do not use it as a compliance contract, punishment, or requirement to become calm on demand.
Adaptations & accessibility
- Use photos or symbols of choices and support people.
- Create separate versions for home, school, or another setting.
- Make a portable one-step version for in-the-moment use.
